Astrolabe’s green credentials arise from its business history and its team’s own commitment to environmentally-friendly issues. In 2001, our managing director advised part of Old Mutual – one of the world’s biggest financial services companies – on the launch of its pioneering New Energy Fund. Since 2003, Astrolabe’s multilingual team has advised various parts of Europe’s Dexia Bank, including its Renewable Energy Finance division in France.  

In 2006, Astrolabe spearheaded the nation-wide launch of the UK’s first charity dedicated to combating climate change. PURE - The Clean Planet Trust launched in November 2006. Astrolabe was heavily involved in lengthy negotiations with Government and in arranging for the Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, Ian Pearson MP, and his team to attend PURE’s launch.
 
An environmentally-conscious launch event & press conference, organised by the Astrolabe’s in-house events manager, was held in Hyde Park. It was attended by leading journalists from the business and financial, environmental and travel sectors of radio, television, print and online media. The event gained nation-wide media coverage.

Since 2007, Astrolabe has advised Carbon Connections - the University of East Anglia’s knowledge transfer team.  Astrolabe developed its strapline “UK’s gateway to carbon commerce” to crystallise its nationwide function for universities and colleges.  Astrolabe also guides Carbon Connections to replacement funding. We help CRed (also UEA) to develop its audience-pledging and municipal carbon reduction systems.  

Astrolabe has helped Green Ventures  International, an Indian carbon credit generating firm, to launch a carbon trading fund for institutional and sophisticated investors worldwide.  We are assisting in fundraising in Europe and the Middle East.
